Open Doors US

Partner with the persecuted

We have a rare opportunity to connect believers here with persecuted Christians in Laos!

This month, we brought you the stories of Kanya* and Phonesay*, two Christians in Laos who were driven from their homes by their community and families. They have faced violence and exclusion, but still remain committed to following Jesus in their new home in the forest.

EMBARGOED - 26 CPA Underground

When Kanya and Phonesay found Jesus, they found hope … and persecution that cost them nearly everything

Kanya*’s church is underground and illegal.

Our mission at Open Doors is to connect believers across the world. Security often makes it difficult (we aren't even using Kanya and Phonesay's real names for their safety).

But through the work of our local partners, we are able to send notes of encouragement to these two faithful Christians! We invite you to first read their story and then write them a note of encouragement below. The notes will be translated and passed along to Kanya and Phonesay.

Will you send them a letter to remind them that Christians around the world are praying?

Writing guidelines

  • Keep the notes short and use simple language—no more than 3-4 sentences.
  • Share a favorite Bible verse or word of encouragement to let them know you are standing with them.
  • You can use the name Kanya/Phonesay or just address it to "Brother/Sister in Christ."
  • For security reasons:
    • Please do not mention Open Doors by name in your message.
    • Avoid criticizing their government or any local officials.
    • Do not offer to send money or other forms of aid. Any gifts can be directed here.
